Blogging for Small Business Resources

Blogging is a great way for entrepreneurs to share your ideas with the world, attract people to your website, and connect with prospects, customers, fellow entrepreneurs, and others.

If you’re just getting started in the world of blogging, here are some resources designed to get you up to speed and blogging like a pro . . .

Blogging Services

The list below covers the three most popular blogging services. I’ve personally used Blogger and WordPress and have some friends who are very happy with Typepad. They all have their pros and cons, however, for those who are new to the blogosphere, I recommend Blogger.com. Here’s why . . .

Blogger

Blogger is Google’s blogging platform. If you’re just entering the blogosphere, I’d recommend using Blogger above the other choices because it’s free, it’s easy to use and because of an excellent (and also free) Blogger video training series at RecognizedExpert.com that covers everything you need to know to start, manage, and customize your Blogger blog.

WordPress

I used WordPress.com for this blog for a long time and was very happy with it. I did find a few drawbacks to it, though. One, even though it’s free to start and host your blog at WordPress.com, there are some upgrades that they’ll charge you for (for example, using your own domain name – which I HIGHLY recommend you doing – which you can do for free at Blogger). The other one is that you’re a bit limited in the themes and customizations you can add (especially if you’re not technically savvy).

Because of these limitations, I moved this blog from WordPress.com to a blog I host myself using the free WordPress software (available for download at WordPress.org). It has given me much more control and flexibility with my blog.

Typepad

Again, I haven’t used it myself, but I’ve heard good things about it.
